Biography

Dallas Blair (b. 1939) is a trumpet recitalist, free-lance performer and founding member of the Celebration Brass Quintet of Saint Louis. His performing experience includes the Knoxville and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra and brass bands in both Saint Louis and the United Kingdom. For twenty years he served as trumpet instructor at Washington University and is a member of the St. Louis Wind Symphony. With music degrees from the University of Tennessee, the University of Louisville, Southwestern Seminary and additional study at Indiana University, Dallas brings solid experience and refined talent to vocal performance, choral and instrumental conducting, composition, arranging and transcription as well as music and worship ministry, and is active as a private and class trumpet instructor. His compositions for chorus and band have been widely performed and his collections of hymns arranged for trumpet and organ are published by Morningstar Music Publishers. Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, Dallas maintains his studio and home in the historic University Heights area of St. Louis, Missouri.
